Dr Mercedes Arguello Casteleiro is a lecturer in Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton, and has a PhD in Physics. She is interested in "One Health", considering public and animal health and the ecosystems interlinking them, and is working on Semantic Deep Learning (SemDeep for short). SemDeep combines Semantic Web (including Knowledge Graphs) and Deep Learning research (including large language models like BERT and ChatGPT). She is investigating how explainable Artificial Intelligence (AI) may benefit from knowledge representation and symbolic AI.
