Dr Diego Alejandro Maseda Fernandez (Acute and General Internal Medicine Consultant)Diego did his medical degree at Complutense University of Madrid, and progressed further to obtain his specialist certificate in Internal Medicine. Afterwards, he subspecialised in HIV medicine. He has been working in the NHS longer than 10 years as Acute and General Medicine Consultant in different Trusts within the North West Region. He has been involved in a wide variety of teaching and research projects, like the Pilot program for Physician Associates at Manchester University or more recently the RECOVERY trial. His research interest has evolved over the years, from HIV medicine and Hepatitis C treatment to COVID therapeutics more recently. He has a broad scope of interest within Medicine, ranging from infectious diseases to AI use in front line medicine.
