Dr James Haworth, University College London (UCL): Abstract

In recent years, computer vision has found application across a range of tasks in urban analytics using a diverse set of image sources, such as street view imagery, CCTV and dashcam video. This talk will introduce the technologies that have enabled this work, focusing on case studies in scene understanding including walkability analysis, road safety perception and pedestrian navigation. The talk will conclude with a discussion of the impact of emerging multimodal large language models (MLLMs) on the field, and their potential to transform the scope and efficiency of urban analytics tasks.
