SGAI has organised an annual series of international conferences since 1981. Since 1992
they have been held in Cambridge in December, except for virtual conferences in 2020 and 2021.
The proceedings have been published in book form since 1984 initially by Cambridge University Press, subsequently by Springer-Verlag as the "Research and Development in Intelligent Systems" and "Applications and Innovations in Intelligent Systems" series and now by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) series under the title 'Artificial Inteliigence xxxx'.

The first 22 conferences were named ES81 to ES2002. From
2003 onwards the series has been renamed as AI-2003 etc.
These pages give information about the conference
and programme chairs, keynote speakers, prize winners and sponsors for SGAI
conferences from ES81 onwards. Our records are incomplete, especially for the
period 1981-89 and we should appreciate any information to fill in the gaps.
Please send it to the SGAI Chair, max.bramer@port.ac.uk.
